McLain’s Independent Artillery Battery

Colorado Light Artillery

We are a reenactment group that portrays an historical Union Artillery Battery

which served in Kansas and Missouri during the Civil War. Our unit participates in

battle reenactments, ceremonies, artillery demonstrations and living history presentations.

We are also part of the historical  2nd Colorado Volunteer Cavalry Regiment that

served in the Army of the Border and was stationed at several forts in Kansas fighting

  Indians and Confederate Guerrillas.

The firing of our 12lb. Mountain Howitzer is always a blast. Our encampment

offers a look into the camp life of civil war soldiers ,including things such as weaponry,,

quarters,, cooking,, duties ,and drill. We are a family oriented group whose goal is learning,,

 preserving and   sharing our history.
